In 2004 the Hiltingbury Community Association started work on preparing plans for the development of a community centre on Hiltingbury Recreation Ground. The idea, being to provide a centre for the local community to hold functions and meetings. A building designed to bring local people of all ages together. Indeed the slogan probably sums this up ‘Putting the heart back in the community’.
In 2010 the plans became a reality and after tremendous work planning by the initial team founders organising and applying for grants, the Hiltingbury Community Association started work to build the first phase of the development. The Association's members could finally move meetings from members kitchens to a purpose built facility. Within a year of opening the centre was out-performing all expectations and the second phase to develop our large Cuckoo Bushes Hall commenced.
Work still continues to develop the facility both in terms of construction and re-design of internal spaces and future plans to add both management technology features and other valuable spaces around the building.
